Full Video Highlights Barcelona 0-0 Manchester United (2-0 Penalties)

Having seen Wayne Rooney miss a penalty in normal time, Nani and Ashley Young then also missed in a rather odd three-kick shootout in which Xavi and Gerard Pique scored, to hand victory to Barcelona after this friendly had ended scoreless after 90 minutes. Results in pre-season games don’t matter, of course. Nobody should pretend they should. But in truth, United struggled to contain Barcelona for long periods of what was a relatively entertaining friendly game.

Full Video Highlights Real Madrid 5-1 LA Galaxy

Real Madrid scored early and it scored often. The first goal came in only the second minute, when Angel Di Maria dummied inside from the right flank and slipped a pass into the box. Gonzalo Higuain, whose brother Federico recently signed for MLS with the Columbus Crew, only needed one touch to put the ball in the back of the net. Di Maria scored his own less than 10 minutes later. He skipped past his marker after Diarra found him open and beat Josh Saunders near post. The Galaxy pulled one back midway through the first half. David Beckham floated a trademark free kick into the box. Omar Gonzalez headed the ball back across goal and David Junior Lopes, who scored against Tottenham last week, bundled it into the net.  Madrid made sure it entered the half with a two-goal cushion courtesy of Jose Callejon. Higuain passed straight through the Galaxy backline and Callejon's run lost Lopes, leaving the youngster with an easy finish. Within minutes of the wholesale changes at halftime (no player from either team started both halves), Esteban Granero chipped the LA defensive line and Alvaro Morata scored. In the last few minutes Los Blancos capped off the game with a gorgeous flowing move. Karim Benzema made a diagonal run across the field, playing a one-two to keep his surge going, and passed to Mesut Ozil on the right. The German cut the ball back into the box and Jesse Rodriguez finished it off.

Full Video Highlights Bayern Munich 15-0 Paulaner

In today's Paulaner Cup de Sudens, the "Paulaner Dream Team" had to know they were going to be badly out-gunned. But perhaps they didn't realize exactly how badly, as FC Bayern romped in the sponsored friendly by a final of 15-0. This certainly wasn't much of a test, but it was good to see the midfield and forwards working together and moving the ball around cleanly. Gomez obviously had a big day, but Ribery and Shaqiri also had some moments of brilliance (again ... consider the opposition).

Full Video Highlights Tottenham Hotspurs 2-1 New York Red Bulls

Tottenham rounded off its pre-season tour of the US with victory on Wednesday evening, after two moments of class from Gareth Bale and Gylfi Sigurdsson saw off New York Red Bulls 2-1. Kenny Cooper had given the MLS side an early lead from the penalty spot, and while Spurs initially struggled to find their rhythm in the opening 45 minutes, the north Londoners soon kicked into gear in the second half as they secured a comfortable win ahead of their return to British shores. Tim Cahill was handed his debut at Red Bull Arena following his switch from Everton to the MLS last week. The Australian midfielder made an immediate impact, finding himself through on goal after latching onto a ball in behind Jan Vertonghen which in turn forced the Belgian center back to foul him in the box.

Aguero opened the scoring with a stylish solo effort, jinking his way past three challenges before stabbing the ball over Mohd Farizal Marlias. The Argentine then turned provider with a perfectly-weighted through ball to Carlos Tevez, who finished well into the bottom corner two minutes into the second half. Aguero was the architect again for the third with a lofted ball to Adam Johnson, who slotted into the goal, before Azamuddin Akil claimed a consolation for the hosts after Pablo Zabaleta's error.

Great Britain were denied a win on their return from a 52-year hiatus from Olympic football as Senegal struck late to frustrate the hosts. It looked as though Welshman Craig Bellamy's first-half strike would prove to be the winning goal and enough to seal an important win for GB.But the Lions of Teranga, playing at their first Olympics, drew level with 10 minutes remaining through Moussa Konate's deft finish after he latched on to a defence-splitting pass.

Full Video Highlights MLS All Stars 3-2 Chelsea

In a stunning Wednesday night upset in Philadelphia, the MLS All-Stars pulled off a 3-2 victory over reigning Champions League champs Chelsea thanks to a stoppage-time goal that nobody could have seen coming.
The MLS All-Stars got on the board first, with San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski scoring in the 21st minute. New York Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry sent a cross into "Wondo," the California-native managed to find the back of the net after a Chelsea defender failed to make a clearance.
Chelsea was not to be outdone, though, as centre-back John Terry found the back of the net with his head in the 32nd minute. All was quiet for the remainder of the first half and the two teams went into the break drawn knotted at 1-1.The Blues threatened from the moment they stepped on field after the break and it looked like only a matter of time until the MLS defensive dam burst. That was indeed the case, as Roberto Di Matteo's side took the lead in the 58th on a goal by Frank Lampard that was given to him on a silver platter.Had this been anything more than an exhibition, Chelsea very well may have hung back and waited for full time to come about but, luckily for the MLS, this was an All-Star showcase.Chris Pontius found the back of the net in the 73rd minute for the All-Stars on a helper from his D.C. United teammate Dwayne De Rosario. It's no surprise that a duo from the same team combined on goal, as it is obviously a difficult task for All-Stars to develop solid chemistry in such short order. It was Eddie Johnson's day to shine, though, as he posted the final tally of the match in the 92nd to give his side the win.

Real Madrid Star Kaka Set to Move to the Premier League

Kaka will leave Real Madrid this summer, according to the president of his former club Sao Paulo – and moving to the Premier League is high on his possibles list.

The Brazil star began his football career at Sao Paulo before moving to AC Milan in 2003 and exploding on the European stage.

Linked with all sorts of moves away, it seemed like he would stay at Milan indefinitely. The closest he has come so far to joining an English club was the infamous failed £100m bid by Manchester City – which then City chief executive Garry Cook claimed had failed because Milan ‘bottled it’.

SOURCE: Daily Mirror

Rumours have surrounded the Brazilian superstar for years amid transfer deals from all over Europe including an incredible £100m offer from Man City in 2009.

“He believes that England or remaining in Spain would be two interesting destinations for him. Sao Paulo can’t afford him as his price-tag is astronomical and out of the reality of Brazilian football,” according to the source above.

Jose Mourinho has no plans to use Kaka in his future squad and the 30-year-old has been out of form under the ex-Chelsea and Porto boss.

The Galactico attacking midfielder joined Real Madrid in 2009 for a reported £54m and since then scored 20 goals in 65 appearances which some have viewed as disappointing considering the large sum paid for him.

Chelsea have always been admirers of Kaka and currently on the lookout for a creative midfield player, Kaka’s a goal-scoring threat that in top form can net double figures with ease will be attractive to the Blues.

With Arsenal rumoured to have been interested in the past surely Wenger’s philosophy of selling players after 30, let alone buying them, will leave it to the other big teams such as Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Man City and will anyone be willing to pay the serious money that Real Madrid will be looking for.

Manchester United Make Official Bid for Robin Van Persie

Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus are locked in a three-way battle to sign Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, who reportedly will not be joining the Gunners on their pre-season tour of the Far East.

The three clubs have all declared their interest in buying want-away striker Van Persie but have so far failed to meet the Gunners' valuation of the 28-year-old.

"Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we've made a bid for him," Sir Alex Ferguson told MUTV.

"We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There's no point talking about something that might not happen.

"There are other clubs interested in the player. We've shown an interest and that's where we're at at the moment."

United, City and Juve are said to be happy to pay somewhere in the region of £15 million but Arsenal are thought to be demanding in excess of £20m for their star player.

The Gunners are said to be prepared to hold out for more than £25m for Van Persie, who they appear to have all but given up trying to convince to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium to replace the one that expires next summer.

According to widespread reports, manager Arsene Wenger has opted against including Van Persie, who this month went public with his desire to quit the club, in the club's pre-season tour.

Full Video Highlights Bayern Munich Win 11-0 in Preseason Friendly

Mario Mandzukic opened his account for Bayern Munich in an 11-0 victory over a Trentino select XI on Tuesday night.
The Croatian striker scored the fourth goal of the rout, which also include a hat-trick from Arjen Robben and the first goal in his second spell in a Bayern shirt for half-time substitute Claudio Pizarro.
Youngsters Oliver Markoutz (two) and Kevin Friesenbichler (three) were also on target with David Alaba accounting for the other goal in Bayern's training camp in northern Italy.

Manchester United to Sign Robin Van Persie

Manchester United believe they have won the £20million race to sign Robin van Persie. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is confident the Arsenal captain will team up with Wayne Rooney to form a formidable strike-force in a rebuilt side he hopes can win back the title. Van Persie scored 30 Premier League goals last term to help the Gunners to third in the table, while Rooney struck 27 times for United. Ferguson is understood to have told footballing friends he believes van Persie will be moving to Old Trafford, despite the interest of money-bags Premier League champions Manchester City and Italian league winners Juventus. Selling his skipper to Sir Alex would be a huge blow to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. It would come 12 months after a summer that saw City buy Samir Nasri and Barcelona purchase then-captain Cesc Fabregas. But Arsenal have little option but to sell - unless they want to lose van Persie for nothing next summer, as the forward has announced he will not sign a new deal. City are committed to off-loading players before sanctioning more big spending and, despite the champions’ vastly superior financial clout, van Persie is believed to have been most tempted by a move to Old Trafford.

PSG confirm Ibrahimovic Signing

Paris St Germain have reached an agreement with AC Milan to sign Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Ligue 1 club's general manager Leonardo has confirmed.

"An agreement has been reached and he (Ibrahimovic) will be having his medical tomorrow (Wednesday)," Leonardo said outside the Parc des Princes.
"It's a great year for PSG. That such a player is coming here is enormous, it can change everything."
PSG announced on the club's official website that they would be holding a news conference at 15:00 CET (2pm British time) on Wednesday when the striker is expected to be presented.
"It's a deal. I can confirm that," Ibrahimovic's agent Mino Raiola told Swedish news agency TT earlier on Tuesday.
Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi announced last week that he had sold Ibrahimovic, top scorer in Serie A last season, and defender Thiago Silva to the big-spending French club who were taken over by Qatari investors last year.
Ibrahimovic, 30, will join Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, who signed for PSG earlier this month, as the club from the French capital seek to play a major role in Europe.
They finished second in Ligue 1 last term and will now play in the Champions League.
Last season, they signed Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore as well as defender Alex and midfielder Thiago Motta.
Attempts to sign David Beckham and Carlos Tevez failed, however, despite the presence of new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Chelsea to Pay £35m in order to Sign Serie A Goal Machine

Chelsea are looking to consider their spending spree by signing Napoli’s Edinson Cavani. However Cavani wont come cheap and wants £150k a week to join Chelsea.

The Uruguay striker’s representatives will tell the London club he wants a pay deal worth £150,000 a week, which would put him on a par with John Terry, Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres.

Cavani, who can leave Napoli for £35million, is one of the options being considered by Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo as he looks to fill the gaping hole left by Didier Drogba.

SOURCE: Daily Mail

Having forked out nearly £40m on Eden Hazard and Marko Marin and moving closer to signing £25m Brazilian youngster Oscar, Blues owner Roman Abramovich will now sanction a £35m move to sign Uruguayan international Edison Cavani as Chelsea look to beef up their strike-force.

Having lost Didier Drogba and with questions over Fernando Torres’s form a move for a new ‘marquee’ signing to improve Chelsea’s firepower does seem on the cards, not least because the West London side have spent some weeks reportedly lining up moves for FC Porto forward Hulk, perhaps Abramovich has now opted to change tack and move for the Serie A hit-man instead.

Cavani has been in astonishingly hot form at Napoli, notching up 66 goals in 94 appearances over the past two seasons form that has failed to secure Champions League football for his Naples side next term, further fueling speculation that the Serie A side may need to sell to balance the books.

The departure of team-mate Ezequiel Lavezzi to PSG will only have increased Cavani’s intention to consider other options.

Newcastle Close to Resigning Liverpool Striker Andy Carrol

Newcastle are expected to return with an improved offer to take Liverpool’s Andy Carroll on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal in future.

Liverpool dismissed Newcastle’s first offer on Sunday night, but the Anfield club will consider a better deal.

Newcastle initially only offered to pay part of Carroll’s £80,000-a-week wages.

Newcastle also wanted to pay £13m if the 23-year-old then signed a permanant deal – the Reds are understood to want at least £17m.

SOURCE: BBC Sport

If the difference between the two sides valuations of the players is just £4m then it seems entirely possible that an offer of £15m could well get the deal done and dusted.

Neither side will want any period of uncertainty to hang in the balance for too long and if Alan Pardew does indeed want to bring Andy Carroll back to St James’ Park and if Brendan Rodgers doesn’t see the 23 year old England international as part of his plans then clearly a permanent move back to the North-East is best for all concerned, that is of course if the player himself wants such a move to come to fruition.

Kenny Dalglish spent a great deal of time dealing with constant criticism over the expensive signing of Andy Carroll and regardless of cost the Gateshead born marksman has failed to prove himself over the 18 months he has spent at the Merseyside club.

Clearly the fee placed on his head was not of Carroll’s choosing and the weight of expectation has proved something of a burden for the Liverpool forward, perhaps a fresh start will help to get his career back on track.

Manchester United Will Offer £25m Plus a Player Swap for Luka Modric

Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to re-enter the race to sign Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric. The Man United boss has previously been strongly linked with the Croatian international but had appeared to have taken a back seat in the race for the 26 year old as Chelsea and Real Madrid looked like being the front runners to sign the White Hart Lane star.

Now the Old Trafford boss is readying a bid that the Scot hopes will tempt Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy into selling one of their top players to Man United.

United will reportedly offer up to £25m plus the inclusion of either of two players he feels will be of interest to newly installed Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas. The players in question are Brazilian midfielder Anderson and Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Villas-Boas has openly admitted that Tottenham are ready to cash-in on Luka Modric, this is in marked contrast to last summer when Levy refused Chelsea’s advances for the schemer. The club’s change of heart may have a lot to do with the fact that another of the North London club’s prized assets, Gareth Bale, has committed to Spurs and put pen to paper on a new four year deal.

31 year old Man United striker Berbatov has recently made his intention to leave Old Trafford very public and has pleaded to Ferguson to re-think any potentially inflated asking price for his services, after all the former Tottenham striker has only a year left to run on his current deal and any interested parties may opt to wait a year and pick him up on a free but the fourth choice striker wants to leave as soon as possible.

Dimitar Berbatov to Leave Manchester United

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has confirmed that he would like to leave the club. Berbatov Appeared only 21 times for United last season after falling out of favor with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Now the Bulgarian, who United paid £30.75m in 2008, says he wants to leave and go in search of regular football.

“I love this club, but I am not going to be useful to anyone if I am not playing,” Berbatov wrote on his official website.

Berbatov scored 14 goals in his first season at United after arriving from Tottenham, and featured in the club’s Champions League final defeat by Barcelona.

He found the target 12 times in his second season before finishing the following campaign as top goalscorer with 22 goals, including hat-tricks against Liverpool and Birmingham and five in the 7-1 thrashing of Blackburn.

“At 31, he is looking at first-team football,” said Ferguson in March. “It is difficult for me to guarantee that so it could lead to him looking elsewhere.”

Berbatov has been linked with several European clubs over the summer, but nothing has materialised and the former Spurs striker says he is desperate to sort out his future.

“I want to play, I want to help, but for unknown reasons it’s not going to happen,” added Berbatov.

“So it’s better for everyone if we say goodbye. If not, I am professional and I will keep doing everything I can to help my team and my teammates, whenever I have the opportunity to do so.”
